Summer or bust!

Today was the LAST day of Kindergarten!
I am amazed at how fast this school year went by. It seems like when I was in school the year took FOREVER to pass and I was so excited when summer break came around. But now, it seems like there wasn't enough school days and now I am wondering how I am going to keep A busy all summer.

Amazing the difference a year makes.

I am so proud of A. She made it through her first year of school with only a few complaints. It's been a year of learning and making friends. Every day I am amazed that she can read and write. Even though now, I have zero privacy, she's reading over my shoulder all the time.

I was really bummed that her school doesn't do "kinder graduations" so her friend's mom and I made them feel special by making them matching shirts and graduation hats. I made their graduation hats out of purple felt, purple yarn for the tassle and some cardboard to keep the corners stiff. It was pretty simple to make.

Now, it's time to plan the summer. I am trying to come up with a "Summer Bucket List". There is a super cute Country Village by our new house that I really want to check out with the girls. They have this adorable English tea house that has children's tea menu.

The weather has been crap the past few days and looks like it's going to stay crap for the next week. First official day of summer is coming up and it's suppose to rain all day. Gee, thanks Washington!

So here's to summer, children growing up way to fast and to drinking a glass of wine on the deck every night after the littles go to sleep.

Opening Day

It's that time of the year again. Baseball season.

Time for cold beers, warm nights and home runs.

Last night we went to the Mariner's Open House. The official opening day was an away game and they just renovated Safeco so it was free to park and get in and super sweet deals on food and beer. Who can't pass up a $5 beer at a professional baseball game? Plus we all got to watch the game on their new massive screen. It was crazy how many people showed up, I think they said around 15-20,000? It was a good night and of course made even better that the Mariners won.

Here's to a good season! And hoping that sunshine and warm weather starts to stick around.

Oh my sunshine

A rare day in Seattle, the sun has been out all day and a nice crisp 45 degrees.

Days like this I feel horrible for spending the day inside cleaning so after I picked A up from school I decided to take the girls to the park that is in our complex.

Reagan enjoys the slide.

I sat on the little bench that's in front of the park and just enjoyed the sunshine. It's been a while since I was able to sit in the sun and not be freezing. On normal days when the sun comes out here it gets pretty cold, the cloud cover seems to keep the heat in. 9 months since we moved I have learned you need to enjoy the sun while you can because you don't know when it's coming back for a few days.

I now understand how people can get "seasonal depression" here. It's been really hard getting use to only seeing the sun on rare occasions during the winter. I am pretty sure it's going to take me a few winters to get use to this. Hopefully once we're in a house and a little more settled it will be easier.
It does make those days the sun is out extra special. We're looking at a couple more months until the warm weather starts and the sun will come out for longer. Until then I am sitting on our patio enjoying the sunshine because I know the next three days we're going to get rain.

Is it summer yet? I know a few littles who sure can't wait for more park time.

Skating Adventure

Today was little miss Taylor's birthday party.

I was really nervous about this party because it was a roller rink, and Ava has never really roller skated before. The entire time I was waiting for her or myself to fall and break something, ha. At least we have health insurance now!

This also was Ava's first "birthday/event" as a kindergartner. She was so excited it was adorable. Taylor is one of her best friends so she was extra excited.

Ava did okay for her first time on skates. The skate rental guy didn't lock her wheels so she was falling all over the place. I didn't know they could do that until another mom mentioned it to me. By then Ava was done skating because she was a little embarrassed that she couldn't skate like the other kids. I felt really bad because Ava gets a little overly emotional about things she was sitting there crying saying her foot hurt but I knew it was because she wasn't that great at skating. I kept trying to tell her that Mommy wasn't that great either and told her to watch the other kids falling but she was pretty much checked out of skating. All in all she had a really great time even though she wasn't that great at skating.

Gotta hold on to that wall!

And here is a lovely video of Ava "skating".

The Husband and I spent the afternoon at Red Hook Brewery. It's a rare occasion that we don't have the girls on the weekend so we decided to make the best of it. They have the most amazing pretzel and beer cheese and I also got one of their burgers which comes with Tim's Cascade chips, it's amazing. I also can't get enough of their "Copperhook" beer. The Husband tends to stay towards their nitro beers, he tried their winter seasonal "Winterhook" on nitro.

After we had lunch we decided to go on their brew tour which is only a $1.00 and you get to try all their beers and get to keep your tasting glass. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

If you're ever in the Woodinville, WA area you should definitely make a stop at Red Hook. You can't go wrong with awesome beer and awesome food. Plus they have an amazing porter ice cream brownie that is to die for!

Kindergartner

As much as I have been waiting for this day to happen it came way too fast. My baby is growing up way too fast. Before we know it she will be asking for the car keys and not wanting to be seen in public with me. At least when those moments happen I will still have her sister for a couple years before she does the same.

I can't wait for her to get home and tell me about her day. As much as she drives me crazy the house is oddly quite with her at school...

Moving Day

Well today is the day, the great four day trek to Seattle. It’s really sad to think that I won’t be living in our home anymore, that someone else will be moving in. Our first home we bought, the home that Reagan was brought home from the hospital to, where Eric and I started our lives together. The past few days seem to be just a blur of packing last minute things and cleaning the house for the renters.

It’s really hard to leave a place where you spent the last 12 years. Walking through our house one last time making sure we didn't leave anything I started to cry. So many memories in one place and we were leaving it behind. I am very excited to start new in Seattle and most importantly get away from this dang heat.

We are taking four days to get up to Seattle. We broke up the drive into 8 hour days so that the girls aren’t in the car for that long, we could have just driven straight through but it would have been constant driving and plus we have things planned so that we all don’t go crazy.

Day One: Tucson to Las Vegas
Day Two: Las Vegas to Reno
Day Three: Reno to Bend, OR
Day Four: Bend to Seattle

I am looking forward to going to Vegas and Reno. I've never been to Reno and well I've never been to Bend either. Here’s to hoping the girls aren't grumpy the entire trip!
